May is Bike Month: 2015

May is Bike Moth and there are a ton of great events going on this month.

Bike Expo New York
When: Friday, May 1, 2015 – 10:00am to Saturday, May 2, 2015 – 6:00pm
Where: Pier 36 at Basketball City (299 South Street, Manhattan)
What: The largest consumer bike expo in North America comes to lower Manhattan May 1st and 2nd. It’s the biggest one-stop bike shop you’ve ever seen, and it’s free to attend. Merch, demos, giveaways, panels, a fashion show… you name it.

17th Annual Blessing of the Bike
When: Saturday, May 2, 2015 – 9am
Where: The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine @ 112th Street and Amsterdam Avenue
What: Wear your usual cycle clothing and bring your bike (or skates or non-motorized scooter) INSIDE the spectacular Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine for the 17th Annual Blessing of the Bikes.

5 Boro Bike Tour
When: Sunday May 3rd
Where: New York City
What: New York’s Five Boro Bike Tour is the largest recreational cycling event in the United States. Every year on the first Sunday of May, over 30,000 riders participate in the 40 mile ride around New York City.

3rd Annual Bike the Branches
When: Saturday, May 9, 2015 – 10am
Where: Start at any of BPL’s 60 branches 10 am to 5 pm Central Library Block Party 5-7 pm
What: Enjoy a fun-filled day of biking between 10 am and 5 pm, stop in at our branches to recharge and enjoy entertainment and cap it off at the all-new Bike the Branches Block Party at Central Library from 5 – 7 pm.

Brooklyn Bike Jumble
When: Saturday, May 9, 2015 – 10am to 4pm
Where: 336 3rd Street (Jumble is actually on 5th ave and 4th street by the school) Brooklyn, NY 11215
What: As always, JJ Byrne/Washington Park in Park Slope will be full of vendors selling new and used bikes, bike accessories and bike ephemera, as well as representatives from local bike clubs and organizations. New York’s ONLY bicycle flea market!
