The next Five Boro Bike Tour will take place on Sunday, May 2, 2010.

Registration will open on Monday, February 1, 2010. Save the date! The 2009 Tour sold out nearly two months in advance, so you have to register quickly in order to get a spot.

New York’s Five Boro Bike Tour is the largest recreational cycling event in the United States. Every year on the first Sunday of May, over 30,000 riders participate in the 42 mile ride around New York City. The route, closed to automobile traffic, takes riders through all five boroughs of New York City, across five major bridges, and finally across New York Harbor on the Staten Island Ferry. It is a lot of fun for cyclists of all skill sets and highly recommended.

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010 Rain or shine
6:30-7:45 a.m.: Tour lineup. Head toward Battery Park, in Lower Manhattan, and follow the marshals’ directions.

7:45-8:00 a.m.: Opening ceremonies with city officials and others at the start stage.

8:00 a.m.: The ride starts!

11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.: Festival at Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island, with finish at the Staten Island Ferry

    I told my girlfreind to purchase a ticket when I did but she waited till the next day and they were sold out. If there is anyone with one extra ticket please let me know.     There is a great bike rental Central Park company located on 57st. We rent from them last month and they have an amazing discount online. I recommend you call them (347) 236-4129. Bother them for that.

    Anyone know what time the roads close for this event. Last year I couldn’t find my way from the west side (Holland tunnel) to the east side of the city (NYU) to move my daughter out of her college dorm room.

    My silver Cannon Camera fell out of my bag right in the grassy area near the finish line. If anyone found it, I would so deeply appreciate if you could return it to me. Even if it was just the memory card, you can keep the camera. All 3 of my friends batteries died before the race, so i was the only one who has pics of our tour…well ..not anymore.
