[...] i guess, maybe, you could consider my bike decorative. when we first moved in, my bike was locked outside to the fence next to our apartment. my dad bought me the bike when i first moved into my apartment in boston. it was a bright blue schwinn, a hybrid so i could ride on the road or the grass. it was great. i got a tune-up over the summer, got the brakes replaced, and it was running perfectly. my dad and i went through hell trying to fit the bike into my already over-stuffed moving van, but we finally got it here and i was looking so forward to riding the bike path from our neighborhood straight to coney island (try it!).
A lot of ppl don't respect that it's a bike path and just stand there or walk really slow right in the bike path. At night it's fine but in the day it's annoying. Just like the other guy said, the Brooklyn Bridge is really also very annoying to ride through because of the pedestrians. But I think this is just a circumstance that you just have to deal with. Because the only option would be to police the paths. And that's ridiculous. There's no way to patrol a bike path and control pedestrian traffic.

I would suggest to make the bike lanes behind the parked cars or eliminate parking in smaller streets. I would do " TRAFFIC>PARKED CARS> BIKE LANE " on only one side of the street. The park cars would serve as a barrier between traffic and bikers. EASY. It's very unsafe the way it is now.

Dear cyclists,

Please stop bicycling on the pedestrian-only east side of Ocean Parkway, my children are with me, and you can't anticipate when they might jump out unexpectedly. Thank you. For our part, we won't walk on the bicycle-only section of the west side of the Parkway.

Funny, I know it's called a bike path and I know the little picture up there shows that pedestrians are supposed to be on the other side of the street, but that's just not the case. This bike path is of no use to actual cyclists because of the endless parade of pedestrians who couldn't care less about the fact that it's supposed to be a bike path. It's an embarrassment to the city of New York that it's basically just an unmaintained sidewalk that acts mostly as a nice way for large groups of people to slowly stroll away the afternoon. Between this bike path and the bike half of the Brooklyn Bridge... the City of New York is great at pretending it cares about cyclists.

I always have a hard time picking up the path from Prospect Park, though it's very easy to follow the path from Brighton Beach to Prospect Park. It's a great tour of a classic orthodox Jewish neighborhood.

It's fun to bike because it clears your mind -- you think better, you resolve problems you thought unresolvable, you get your perspective back.
