New Map: North and South County Trailways Bike Map

Jun 7th, 2007
North County & South County trailways bike map Westchester County, New York City’s neighbor to the North, is home to the North County & South County trailways. These Westchester trails are part of an ambitious rails-to-trails project that will eventually connect Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx to the Putnam County Trailway via a scenic car-free bike path. While nearly 40 miles have already been completed & are ready for riding, there is still on-going construction on the South County Trailway and to ride from the city to the trail requires several miles of on-street riding with traffic. To skip the city miles & minimize on-street riding, you can take Metro North to the trail. The Pleasantville station is only a mile from the North County Trailway.

  1. this is a great ride! thanks for the map

  2. Does anyone know if there is public parking near any of the access points along this trail? I’m coming from Stamford, CT and don’t want to just go without knowing where to park! Thanks.

  3. Hi Erin -

I know there is parking at the Barney Street trail access point –>

  8. I’m an old hand at riding these trailways, but checked the site a few times to plan a ride for yesterday that left the trail in Mahopac, where I’m least familiar with it. Excellent work!

You ought to add at least a few more train connector routes to the map. The descent from the path to the Croton Falls train station (via Croton Falls road), for example, is fantastic, though I wouldn’t want to climb it. ;-) Also perhaps a route from the Mount Kisco train station, either via 133 or Crow Hill Road.

  9. I want to ride from Carmel NY down to NYC this weekend. Is this possible?

And does it connect with the trial on the West Side of the city?
