			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Escape the crowds and ride out of Manhattan across the George Washington Bridge and into West Hudson Highlands of Bergen, NJ and Rockland, NY with the<a title="New York Cycle Club" href="http://www.nycc.org/index.php"> NYCC&#8217;</a>s Escape New York bicycle ride on September 25th.</p>
<p><strong>Routes: Three clearly marked <a href="http://www.nycc.org/eny/">Escape New York</a> options:</strong></p>

<li>1. 7:00 am: Century Challenge, 100 miles. A rolling full century through beautiful Bergen and Rockland counties.</li>
<li>2. 8:00 am: Rockland Roll, 65 miles. Ramble on lightly trafficked roads to scenic Rockland Lake State Park.</li>
<li>3. 9:00 am: Piermont Pleasures, 50 miles. A half-century to the charming and historic village of Piermont on the Hudson.</li>

The 2009 Tour sold out nearly two months in advance, so you have to register quickly in order to get a spot. </del></p>
<p>New York&#8217;s <a href="http://www.nycbikemaps.com/maps/five-boro-bike-tour-map/" title="5 Boro Bike Tour Route Map"> Five Boro Bike Tour</a> is the largest recreational cycling event in the United States. The 6th annual Tour de Brooklyn is an exciting, 18-mile family-friendly bike tour. The tour will start and end in Williamsburg, with a brief rest stop in Red Hook Park. NYPD will escort the tour as a rolling parade. Riders of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Registration is required; limited day of registration will be available at the Start. Helmets are required for riders age 14 and under, in accordance with the New York State law. </p>
<p>The ride makes occasional stops as the NYPD escorts see fit. Please be prepared to stop and ride with caution. All riders will enjoy a brief stop at Red Hook Park where they will receive a light snack and the opportunity to refill their water bottles. Please bring your own water bottle. </p></blockquote>

<blockquote><p>Three Saturdays in August, New York City had a 6.9 mile car-free path leading from the Brooklyn Bridge in Lower Manhattan to the East 72nd Street entrance of Central Park. The street closures occured from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on three consecutive Saturdays in August, the 9th, 16th and 23rd. The streets closed were Centre Street, Lafayette Street, 4th Avenue and Park Avenue.</p></blockquote>
