Bike the New York City Waterfalls

4th Annual Tour de Brooklyn - May 25th, 2008

The Tour de Brooklyn is a leisurely paced, 18-mile bike tour along a relatively flat route that starts May 25, 2008 at 9:00am.
Registration is free and required. [there's a 2000 person limit on the ride]

2008 Five Boro Bike Tour: Sunday May 4th

The Five Boro Bike Tour, the largest recreational cycling event in the United States, is scheduled for Sunday, May 4th 2008. Every year on the first Sunday of May, over 30,000 riders participate in the 42 mile ride around New York City.



2008: New Bike Lanes in New York City

Bikers in New York City now have some new bike lanes to enjoy while riding around town. Manhattan appears to have been the recipient of the most new bike lanes, with Brooklyn and the Bronx also getting a few.



Transportation Alternatives’ Crash Stat Map

Transportation Alternatives has launched a new and improved version of their Crash Stat Map that now uses Google maps and includes data from 2004 and 2005. The location of accidents and fatalities involving bicycles are mapped city wide and this tool can be used to let you know what streets and intersections to avoid or be extra cautious when using.



Ocean Parkway Bike Path

On June 15, 1894, Brooklyn’s Ocean Parkway became the home of the country’s first bike path. Inspired by the grand boulevards of Europe and designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux , Ocean Parkway stretches over five miles from Brooklyn’s Prospect Park to Coney Island.
